Of the Black Sun

Karma burned black the sun
After she drank the endless rivers of our apathy
The god's left us no mercy fulfilling their terms of rage
Great quakes tore apart the earth's living crust

Beyond the ash curtain & past the dense fog
There exists always however bleak the dawn
Beyond the barren plains & nuclear wastes
There we stood living past the fallout we made

Some people chose to starve and wait
Dying they joined their waiting family
Some people persevered to force fate
Striving to find a reason to make earth work
This timed trial the final around

In our haste for a genetic eternal bliss
We betrayed every last of our ethical ties
And so she came, karma with the other gods we praised
They burned black our sun a promise from an ancient age

Beyond the ash curtain & past the dense fog
There exists always however bleak the dawn
Beyond the barren plains & nuclear wastes
There we stood living past the fallout we made

Bring back the blackened sun
We learned much more from the pain
Than the comfort when we knew none
The signal bridged the distance in the dark days
